IJGE/WAIB 1st Annual Emerging Scholar Award in Women’s Entrepreneurship

Winners of inaugural IJGE/WAIB Emerging Scholar Award announced at AIB 2009 Conference

Emerald is delighted to have partnered with Women in the Academy of International Business to present the inaugural International Journal of Gender and Entrepreneurship/WAIB 1st Annual Emerging Scholar Award in Women’s Entrepreneurship.

The award was set up to encourage high calibre scholarly research in women’s entrepreneurship, and to platform the work of dynamic young researchers, particularly those who are in a position to offer exciting new perspectives to the field. Winners receive a framed certificate, a complimentary subscription to IJGE, international promotion for the winning paper and an invitation to submit the final paper for potential publication in the journal. In addition, the winning authors receive a plaque from WAIB.

The winning paper was submitted to a blind review by the IJGE/WAIB Award committee consisting of Colette Henry, editor of IJGE; Rob Edwards and Andrew Smith from Emerald, and Susan Gupta, WAIB President.

Martyn Lawrence, Emerald’s International Business Publisher, presented the inaugural prize to Michael L. Troilo of the University of Tulsa and Katherine Terrell of the University of Michigan, at the Academy of International Business 2009 Conference in San Diego. The winners received the award for their paper ‘Culture, Values, and Female Entrepreneurship’.

Photos of the award winners can be found at the WAIB website.

Emerald and WAIB are pleased to offer the new award in 2010. Submission details will be made available via the WAIB website shortly.
