Welcome to the 2nd Conference of The International Association For Tourism Economics (IATE). The Constituent General Assembly of The International Association For Tourism Economics took place in Palma de Mallorca (Spain) in October 2007.
The objective was not only the contribution for the development of tourism economics as a science; in order to encourage contacts between teachers, researchers and students with institutions interested in this field, but also to enhance communication skills between tourism economics and other fields in economics.
After the success of the first conference and in accordance with the agreement for biennial meetings, we welcome the opportunity to invite you to participate in our second conference hosted by The Faculty of Economics at The University of Chiang Mai (Thailand).
We welcome the submission of papers and attendance to our conference which will certainly achieve as high level of participation and research quality as the 1st Conference of The International Association for Tourism Economics 2007 The Scientific Committee for The IATE would like to thank The University of Chiang Mai for the offer to host and organise this conference. Their interest shown in all aspects of this conference will ensure that the conference will be a great success. The overall aim of the Forum is to improve the impact of Tourism/Hospitality/Retail/Events/Service Management publications and journals and to consider the economic and social benefits that research on these areas can bring to society at large. The event organized by the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Research (ICTHR) in the School of Services Management and the Business School, Bournemouth University in collaboration with the Kent Business School, University of Kent aims to explore the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) /Research Excellence Framework (REF) quality criteria, and the methodology used for constructing the ABS Journal Quality Guide list.

In its fifteenth year, the Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism is an annual event that brings together students, faculty, hospitality management scholars, and graduate program administrators for presentations, discussions, and social interaction.
Attendees have the opportunity to meet and present ideas on research in hospitality, listen to leading researchers in the field, and explore ways to look at contemporary issues in the hospitality industry.

ENTER2010 will offer a unique forum for academic, industry, destination managers, marketers and government representatives to explore the future of ICTs in Tourism through research and dynamic dialogue within the social network of the IFITT community.

The INVTUR 2010 international conference aims at providing a unique opportunity to discuss the role of tourism research in academic disciplines, with special attention on the results of thesis, dissertations and applied research projects, and their relevance to the industry.
The conference includes thematic parallel sessions where a wide variety of papers and international experiences will be presented, focusing in areas such as the state of the art of tourism research, emerging research areas and issues, national experiences, how tourism research should be oriented in the future, liaisons between tourism research and the tourism sector, among others. In addition, worldwide recognized academics will provide ground of discussion concerning the importance of tourism research and its value to the industry.
