A: A full titles list of the journals included in the Emerald Backfiles is available in Microsoft Excel format or Adobe PDF format
Q: How many articles are in Emerald Backfiles?
A: Over 68,000 papers complete the Emerald Backfiles.
Q: Do I have to purchase the entire collection?
A: The Backfiles collection must be purchased as a complete product. The purchase of individual journals is not possible.
Q: What pricing options are available?
A: Emerald Backfiles can be purchased for a one-off fee or over a fixed period of 5 years. Please contact your local representative for further information
Q: What format are the articles in?
A: The articles are fully searchable PDFs.
Q: Once we have access to the Backfiles, what happens if I want access to the recent journal issues to which I don’t subscribe?
A: Users will have access to the abstracts of all non-subscribed material. Recent articles can also be obtained via pay-per-view or by subscribing to the journal.
Q: Where is Emerald Backfiles hosted?
A: Emerald will host the product for a annual maintenance fee. The fee covers software and platform upgrades and server maintenance. Alternatively, the Emerald Backfiles can be hosted locally but integrated searching will then not be possible.
Q: If I buy the archive and host it locally, will Emerald supply software to enable me to do this?
A: No. If a customer would like to host the product locally, they will be supplied with a DVD containing the Emerald Backfiles.
Q: Is it possible to search across Emerald Backfiles alongside my other content?
A: Yes. Providing Emerald is hosting the Backfiles, integrated searching will be possible.
Q: When searching the database, how can we tell if the article I am viewing is a backfile?
A: Articles will be identified with a ‘B’ icon. 
Q: Are usage statistics available for the use of Emerald Backfiles?
A: Yes. If you also have access to current content for a journal, the usage statistics will be combined.
Q: Will we automatically get the archives for journals that Emerald acquires in the future?
A: Once Emerald has digitized the backfiles of newly acquired titles, these will be added and made available to purchase as additional content.
