I have been a professional proofreader and copy editor since 1995. I specialize in on-screen copy editing of non-native English, although I still offer straightforward proofreading services (on screen and on paper) in a variety of subject areas. I also offer copywriting services for websites, brochures and other material.

Over the years I have worked for a number of academic publishers, including Kluwer, Elsevier and Oxford University Press. I have gained a great deal of experience of working with the house styles of different companies and their different publications.

I currently edit reports for the European Training Foundation, an EU agency concerned with education and training, and with related matters such as labour markets, migration and employment policies. These reports are written by authors who do not have English as their first language. I edit the language, ensuring that it follows the EU’s own inter-institutional style guide, and raise queries with the authors where necessary.

I am happy to edit material relating to other areas in which I have gained work experience:

• Prior to 1995 I worked in human resources for the National Health Service (UK), and completed the Diploma of the Institute of Health Services Management.
• As a copywriter I have worked with marketing and public relations professionals and am familiar with the concepts and techniques used in these areas. I am about to complete a Diploma in Copywriting.
